Do you suspect you have gluten sensitivity?  According to alternative medicine doctors, there is a distinct difference between sensitivity and allergies.  Gluten intolerance signs or symptoms are a lot more vague and difficult to monitor. If you experience symptoms such as hives, stomach cramps or diarrhea soon after eating bread or other foods that contains gluten you probably have an allergy, not a sensitivity or intolerance.

Sensitivity and intolerance are often used interchangeable to describe the delayed immune reactions to food, as opposed to the immediate  symptoms of allergies.

Gluten, a grain protein, is found in bread, pasta, cereals and many processed foods.  Wheat, barley, oats, spelt, rye and some other grains also contain gluten.

Gluten Sensitivity Symptoms?

Gluten sensitivity causes a broad range of symptoms, which manifest differently from person to person, you may have joint or muscle pain, backache, fatigue and many other problems without knowing that certain foods are triggering these health issues.  Disguised by your everyday diet and the delayed food intolerance reactions, it is almost impossible to identify the offending food on your own.  However, alternative medicine practitioners have several ways of testing if in fact, you are gluten intolerant.

Food intolerance is difficult to diagnose and many people go from doctor to doctor trying to find the cause of their ailments.  Unfortunately, as time goes by, these sensitivities can lead to chronic illnesses such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes, eczema, celiac disease, and many others.  Gluten sensitivity has also been linked to attention deficit disorder (ADHD).

What Dr. Clark is saying is that traditional medicine physicians don’t have a clue about the difference between allergy and intolerance.  I have often observed during my research that this topic is very controversial.  This is because the conventional medicine community does not believe that certain food substances can cause inflammatory and chronic diseases, which is the belief of naturopathic and chiropractic doctors.

Nevertheless, many people with food intolerances consulted one doctor after another, got drug medications to mask their symptoms, but never got their ailments diagnosed until they visited either a naturopath or a chiropractor who administered a test, gave them a diagnosis and a food elimination diet which revealed the foods they were sensitive to.  These foods were eliminated from their diets,  soon after their health issues disappeared and they felt much better.

In summary, gluten intolerance signs are difficult to detect because of the delayed symptom onset and other factors mentioned above.  If you suffer from some chronic  ailments visit your health care professional, if you are not satisfied with his/her approach, consult a natural medicine doctor.
